Sorigin RE Services Wins 250 MW / 500 MWh Standalone Battery Storage Project in Rajasthan

Sorigin RE Services has secured its first standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan, with a total capacity of 250 MW / 500 MWh.
The project has been awarded by a leading independent power producer and will consist of two battery storage installations of 125 MW / 250 MWh each, to be developed at Giral and Suratgarh.
Strengthening Grid Stability and Renewable Integration
The battery storage systems are designed to enhance grid stability, manage peak electricity demand, and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid.
Large-scale energy storage projects such as this help balance electricity supply and demand by storing excess power during low-demand periods and delivering it back to the grid when demand rises.
The company stated that its end-to-end EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) solutions for BESS will support the development of more reliable and flexible power systems across India.
Supporting India’s Clean Energy Targets
The project aligns with India’s broader energy transition goals, including the national target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030 and the country’s long-term net-zero emissions target by 2070.
Battery storage is expected to play a critical role in achieving these goals by ensuring that renewable energy sources such as solar and wind can be stored and dispatched when needed.
