South Central Railway Floats EPC Tender for 1.4 MW Rooftop Solar Installations
Feb 18, 2026
Bids invited for 46 rooftop systems in Vijayawada Division; submission deadline set for March 6, 2026. South Central Railway has issued an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tender to deploy rooftop solar projects aggregating 1.415 MW across the Vijayawada Division in Andhra Pradesh.
The total estimated cost of the project stands at Rs89.36 million (approximately $985,299). Interested bidders must submit their proposals by March 6, 2026, along with an earnest money deposit of Rs596,800 (around $6,580).
The tender covers the installation of 46 rooftop solar systems with capacities ranging between 5 kW and 100 kW. These systems will be set up on circulating area platforms, station premises and service buildings within the division.
The selected contractor will be responsible for the complete scope of work, including system design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning. Additional responsibilities include laying low-tension underground cables, providing switchgear equipment, carrying out excavation and trenching, implementing earthing arrangements, erecting high-rise mounting structures, and dismantling existing roof iron sheets where required.
The railway has stipulated a project completion timeline of six months from the date of award. The interconnection voltage for the installations has been specified at 1,100 volts using low-tension underground cabling.
All rooftop systems will function under a net metering mechanism, with metering charges to be borne by the respective distribution company.
To qualify, bidders must have executed similar solar projects involving supply, installation, testing and commissioning of systems with a minimum capacity of 5 kW within the last seven years. This criterion can be met through either three similar projects valued at least 30% of the current tender amount each, two projects valued at least 40?ch, or one project valued at least 60% of the advertised value.
Additionally, participants must demonstrate a minimum average annual contractual turnover equal to V/N or V (whichever is lower), where V denotes the advertised tender value and N represents the project completion period in years.
