Tata Power Solaroof Unveils ‘SunSmart Flexi EMI’ with Tata Capital to Accelerate Rooftop Solar Uptake

Mar 18, 2026

Tata Power Solaroof has joined hands with Tata Capital to introduce the SunSmart Flexi EMI Scheme, a financing solution designed to help commercial and industrial (C&I) customers adopt rooftop solar through flexible, generation-linked payment options and collateral-free funding.

Tata Power Solaroof, the rooftop solar arm of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has introduced a new financing initiative aimed at making solar adoption easier for businesses. Developed in collaboration with Tata Capital, the SunSmart Flexi EMI Scheme is tailored to improve affordability and accessibility of rooftop solar solutions for the commercial and industrial segment across India.

The scheme introduces a unique approach by linking repayments to expected solar power generation. This allows businesses to align their monthly payments or lease rentals with energy savings, effectively enabling a “pay-as-you-save” model. Such a structure helps organizations better manage their cash flows while transitioning toward clean energy sources.

Designed to cater to diverse business needs, the financing program offers collateral-free loans, competitive interest rates, flexible repayment tenures, and a fully digital process for quicker approvals and disbursement. The aim is to simplify the financing journey for enterprises of varying sizes and energy demands.

With this initiative, Tata Power Solaroof reinforces its focus on driving clean energy adoption in India’s C&I sector. Rooftop solar installations not only help businesses reduce long-term electricity costs but also enhance energy security while supporting the country’s broader sustainability and net-zero goals.

The company is targeting a wide range of industries under this scheme, including automotive, textiles, IT, steel, HVAC, cold storage, FMCG, and quick commerce.

In the ongoing financial year, Tata Power Solaroof has completed approximately 6,700 installations for C&I customers, contributing to a total installed capacity of over 580 MWp in this segment alone.

Overall, the company has surpassed 370,000 installations across residential and commercial sectors, achieving a cumulative installed capacity of more than 4.5 GWp.
