Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited has announced the successful erection and commissioning of Hydro-Mechanical (HM) systems for the 2,000 MW (8 × 250 MW) Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, located along the Arunachal Pradesh–Assam border.
The project, being developed by NHPC Limited, is one of India’s largest hydropower initiatives and represents a significant addition to the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.
Commenting on the achievement, Sudipta Mukherjee, Managing Director of Texmaco Rail & Engineering, said the commissioning of the hydro-mechanical systems marks a major milestone for the company and underscores its capabilities in executing complex, large-scale infrastructure projects. He added that the accomplishment reflects Texmaco’s technical expertise and leadership in delivering critical systems for major hydropower developments, while contributing meaningfully to India’s renewable energy objectives.
NHPC Limited has already declared the commercial operation date (COD) for the first generating unit, with three additional units now commissioned. The remaining four units are scheduled for phased commissioning during FY 2026–27, as per the project’s implementation timeline.
The successful commissioning of the HM systems reinforces Texmaco Rail & Engineering’s position as a key player in India’s hydropower and infrastructure sector, highlighting its role in supporting the nation’s transition toward clean and sustainable energy.
