TGGENCO Invites Bids for 375 MW/1,500 MWh Standalone BESS Projects in Telangana

Nov 27, 2025

Telangana Power Generation Corporation (TGGENCO) has issued a tender to develop 375 MW/1,500 MWh of grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across two sites—Maheswaram and Choutuppal—under a tariff-based competitive bidding process. Each project will have 187.5 MW/750 MWh capacity and operate under a 15-year Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, with viability gap funding of INR 18 lakh/MWh.

The BESS facilities must support one complete daily charge-discharge cycle, maintain 95% annual availability, and integrate with the State Transmission Utility (STU) network. Developers are required to use commercially established technologies, with indigenously developed Energy Management Systems (EMS) and no refurbished battery cells.

Tender submissions close on December 27, 2025, with techno-commercial bids opening on December 31, 2025. Land will be leased at INR 1 per acre per year, and bidders must meet financial and technical criteria, including a minimum net worth of INR 75 lakh/MW.
