TNERC Orders TANGEDCO to Settle Rs 40.58 Crore for Unutilized Wind Energy

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) directed the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) to pay Rs 40.58 crore to Mytrah Vayu (Manjira) Pvt. Ltd. for unutilized banked wind energy from 2014-17.
The amount includes Rs 22 crore in principal and interest for energy unused under wheeling agreements, compensated at 75% of the wind energy tariff. Despite prior acknowledgments, TANGEDCO delayed payments due to prolonged verification of Mytrah’s Captive Generating Plant (CGP) status.
