Websol and Linton Sign MoU to Explore PV Ingot and Wafer Manufacturing in India

Dec 03, 2025

Websol Energy System has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Linton, a global name in PV ingot and wafer equipment technology, as part of its efforts to strengthen backward integration in the solar value chain. The collaboration aims to assess the potential for establishing ingot and wafer manufacturing capabilities in India.

Under the agreement, Websol plans to procure advanced PV ingot and wafer production equipment from Linton. In addition, Linton will provide its technical know-how, including specialised training and skill development for Websol’s workforce, to ensure smooth operation and optimisation of the new equipment and manufacturing processes.

Speaking about the partnership, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director of Websol Energy System, said the initiative represents another important step in the company’s mission to support India’s integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem. “By venturing into PV ingot and wafer manufacturing, we aim to reduce our dependence on imported raw materials and strengthen our technological capabilities. Linton, with its global expertise and long-standing experience in solar cell and module technologies, is the ideal partner for this journey,” he noted.

Agarwal added that the collaboration positions both companies to capitalise on the growing opportunities in India’s rapidly expanding solar sector.

As India accelerates its solar installation targets, the Websol–Linton partnership is expected to support national goals related to energy security, sustainability, and domestic manufacturing, further reinforcing Websol’s leadership role in the evolving solar industry.
