AM Group Partners with Uttar Pradesh Government to Build 1 GW Carbon-Free AI Compute Campus in Greater Noida
Jan 21, 2026
AM Group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Invest UP, the investment promotion agency of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, to develop a 1 GW high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) compute facility in Greater Noida. The agreement was formalised during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
Under the MoU, AM Group will invest approximately USD 25 billion to set up a large-scale AI infrastructure hub designed to support global AI workloads. The project will be executed in phases, with initial capacity expected to become operational in 2028 and the full 1 GW capacity targeted for completion by 2030.
According to the company, the compute campus will operate on round-the-clock carbon-free power, drawing energy from a mix of renewable sources including wind, solar, and pumped storage solutions. The initiative aligns with India’s broader push toward sustainable digital infrastructure.
The proposed facility is expected to house nearly 500,000 advanced high-performance chipsets, making it one of the largest AI-focused infrastructure investments announced in the country. AM Group stated that the project is aligned with the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, aimed at accelerating the adoption and scale-up of AI-driven services.
Commenting on the development, Anil Chalamalasetty, Group Chairman of AM Group, said that the evolution of the global AI ecosystem will depend on purposeful design, adaptability, and intelligent systems. He noted that AMG AI Labs’ work on transforming energy inputs into intelligent digital outputs reflects the group’s technology-led approach as the industry moves toward physical AI solutions.
Mahesh Kolli, Group President of AM Group, said the integration of 1 GW of compute capacity with continuous green power supply goes beyond building a conventional data centre. He described the project as a blueprint for sustainable global AI infrastructure, supported by the state government of Uttar Pradesh.
With India witnessing rapid growth in demand for high-performance computing and AI applications, the Greater Noida facility is being designed to serve hyperscalers, frontier research labs, enterprises, and sovereign AI initiatives. The company said the infrastructure will enable rapid and large-scale deployment of AI workloads while maintaining a carbon-free energy footprint.
AM Group added that AMG AI Labs, driven by its vision of democratising AI, is developing an end-to-end value chain—from efficient, on-demand clean power to intelligent digital outputs. These outputs will support customised AI models and applications across multiple sectors, including energy, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, sovereign cloud services, media, and gaming.
