Andhra Pradesh Allocates 1.2 GW of Rooftop Solar Capacity Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme

Nov 20, 2025

Andhra Pradesh has advanced its residential clean energy push by awarding 1,200 MW of rooftop solar projects under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The utility-led aggregator auction, held in July 2025, drew strong interest from both established and emerging developers, reflecting the state’s growing emphasis on household-level solar adoption.

Kosol Energie secured the largest share with 291.54 MW, followed by Rotomag Enertec with 139.53 MW, and Sadbhav Futuretech with 90 MW. Other major allocations include Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (77.4 MW) and Surya Cons (60.27 MW). Mid-sized players such as Brihaspathi Technologies, Junna Solar Systems, Sunworks Energy, VSA Infra Projects, and Sree Sai Electronics received awards ranging from 12 MW to 18 MW.

Additional bidders collectively won 71.86 MW, while companies including Sungrace Energy Solutions, Environ Energy Tech, Jahnavi Engineering & Consultancy, Surya Power Tree, Servotech Renewable Power System, RayPower Solutions, and Cheriesh Power Technologies will also deploy residential rooftop systems across the state.

All awarded projects target Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households, in line with the scheme’s goal of promoting inclusive access to clean energy. Developers are responsible for delivering complete turnkey solutions—covering system design, engineering, equipment supply, transportation, installation, commissioning, and five years of O&M.

To qualify for MNRE’s central financial assistance, all installations must use domestically produced solar cells and modules, meeting stringent quality and warranty norms. Each system is backed by an eight-year product warranty, along with guaranteed performance retention of 90?ter 10 years and 80?ter 25 years. With a tight six-month implementation window, the program underscores the urgency of scaling rooftop solar adoption across households.

The auction marks a major milestone for Andhra Pradesh’s residential solar expansion—boosting domestic manufacturing, enabling equitable access to renewable energy, and strengthening long-term reliability of rooftop systems across the state.
