BikeWo Green Tech has entered into a strategic partnership with Yubhas Renewables to pilot solar-assisted electric three-wheelers aimed at improving sustainable transportation in rural and semi-urban India. The collaboration will focus on validating the vehicles under real-world operating conditions before commercial deployment, while also exploring innovative business models that combine clean mobility with rural entrepreneurship and livelihood creation.

As part of the pilot programme, BikeWo Green Tech will leverage its operational network and last-mile mobility expertise to assess the performance of the solar-assisted electric three-wheelers in day-to-day commercial use. The evaluation will cover key parameters such as driving range, battery efficiency, payload capacity, ride comfort, braking performance, thermal management, operating costs and overall reliability across varying road and weather conditions. Insights gathered during the trials will be used to optimise the vehicle's design, efficiency and durability before a wider market rollout.

The partnership extends beyond vehicle testing by seeking to establish a sustainable rural mobility ecosystem. Both companies plan to develop a model that equips young people in rural communities with training in vehicle operation, maintenance, customer service and basic business management. The initiative is intended to help participants become owner-operators of clean mobility solutions, creating self-employment opportunities while addressing transportation challenges in underserved regions.

The companies are also exploring avenues to facilitate financial access for aspiring entrepreneurs through the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), subject to eligibility criteria and approvals from lending institutions. If implemented, the financing support could enable trained individuals to own and operate solar-assisted electric three-wheelers for passenger transport, agricultural logistics, e-commerce deliveries, healthcare access and other essential last-mile services, thereby generating sustainable income while improving rural connectivity.

Commenting on the collaboration, Hiten Pal Saklani, CEO of BikeWo Green Tech, said the partnership reflects the company's commitment to evaluating innovative mobility technologies that can improve operational efficiency while contributing to India's clean transportation transition. He added that the pilot offers an opportunity to assess the commercial viability of solar-assisted electric vehicles while exploring scalable models for rural entrepreneurship.

Sai Satyam Pradhan, Founder and CEO of Yubhas Renewables, said the company aims to develop a practical solar-assisted mobility platform tailored to the transportation needs of rural India. According to him, feedback from BikeWo's operational network will help refine the vehicles for greater reliability, affordability and commercial viability, while supporting a broader ecosystem that promotes clean mobility, entrepreneurship and improved access to essential services.

The initiative aligns with India's broader push towards sustainable transportation, rural development and clean energy adoption. Electric three-wheelers have emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments in the country's electric mobility market due to their relatively low operating costs and suitability for last-mile transportation. By integrating solar-assisted charging capabilities with electric mobility, such solutions have the potential to reduce dependence on conventional electricity, lower operating expenses and extend vehicle usability in areas with limited charging infrastructure. If successful, the pilot could provide a scalable model for advancing green mobility while supporting inclusive economic development across rural India.
