ElectriGo Introduces Electric Bus Leasing Model, Partners with GEMS for 50-Bus Deployment

ElectriGo has announced the launch of its electric bus leasing solution aimed at private bus operators, marking a step forward in expanding commercially viable electric mobility in India. As part of the initiative, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Energy Mobility Solutions (GEMS) to deploy 50 electric buses across key transport routes.

The MoU was formalised on August 1, 2025, in Chennai, and is intended to accelerate the adoption of electric buses in public and contract transportation. To support its operational plans, GEMS has also unveiled Ziel Mobility, a green aggregator platform focused on electric passenger buses and electric trucks.

ElectriGo traces its origins to the success of Turno, India’s largest electric small commercial vehicle (eSCV) platform launched in 2021 by former Zoomcar executives Hemanth Aluru and Sudhindra Reddy. Turno played a pivotal role in expanding EV adoption in underserved retail segments through innovative financing structures, a battery buyback guarantee, and expertise in battery repurposing—helping operators achieve tangible total cost of ownership (TCO) benefits.

Building on this experience, ElectriGo was launched in 2024 to extend a similar mission-driven approach to the electric bus segment. The company offers an integrated ecosystem that includes charging infrastructure, proactive maintenance, and real-time telematics, enabling operators to deploy electric buses with predictable performance and operational confidence.

Commenting on the partnership, Sudhindra Reddy Pidapa, Co-founder of ElectriGo, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing cleaner and more cost-efficient mobility in India. He noted that combining ElectriGo’s end-to-end leasing model with reliable on-ground execution helps make electric buses both accessible and commercially sustainable for operators.

Under the agreement, the electric buses will be operated with full maintenance and operational support from ElectriGo, ensuring high fleet availability, improved efficiency, and smooth day-to-day operations.

Sunil Kumar Ravindran, Director at GEMS and Ziel Mobility, added that Ziel Mobility serves as a key operational layer within GEMS’ broader EV ecosystem. He highlighted the company’s focus on practical, large-scale deployment, with a roadmap targeting 200 buses, 150 trucks, and 50 mining machines by FY 2026–27, supported by ElectriGo’s technology-enabled financing, maintenance, and lifecycle management capabilities.
