Envision India Secures 300 MW Wind Turbine Deal with UPC Renewables
Dec 02, 2025
Envision Energy India has signed a major supply agreement with UPC Renewables India for 300 MW of wind turbine capacity, covering 60 units of its high-performance EN 182 | 5 MW turbine platform.
UPC Renewables will deploy these 5 MW smart wind turbines across its upcoming wind power projects in Karnataka. A definitive supply agreement for the first 20 turbines (100 MW) has already been executed, with deliveries scheduled for early next year. This initial batch will support UPC’s contracted power supply to SJVN beginning January 2027.
The full set of 60 EN 182 | 5 MW turbines will be installed in Bijapur, Karnataka, where they are expected to leverage strong monsoon wind flows and favourable terrain to generate approximately 900 million units of clean electricity annually.
RPV Prasad, Managing Director of Envision Energy India, described the collaboration as a significant milestone in advancing industrial decarbonisation and accelerating sustainable energy growth in the country. He emphasized that Envision’s customer-first approach, combined with its focus on quality and safety, continues to establish new standards of reliability and performance in the renewable sector.
Envision’s EN 182 | 5 MW turbine platform features a 182-metre rotor diameter and 140-metre hub height, making it well-suited to Indian wind conditions. The platform has demonstrated strong results in markets across the MENA region, Southeast Asia, and China. It delivers more than 40% higher annual energy output compared to the company’s 3.3 MW turbines, enabling a lower Levelised Cost of Energy (LCoE). The design also allows projects to require fewer land parcels, helping developers reduce right-of-way and land acquisition challenges.
Alok Nigam, CEO of UPC Renewables India, said construction is now underway on the company’s first wind power development under the UPC Renewables India platform. He noted that the first 100 MW marks an important step, setting the pace for the company’s plan to deliver over 500 MW of wind capacity in Karnataka over the next three years. He added that UPC chose Envision for this milestone project due to its proven track record in delivering high-quality wind solutions.
