Hinduja Renewables Crosses 4 TWh Green Power Generation Milestone, Reinforces Net Zero Roadmap

Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited (HREPL), the renewable energy arm of the Hinduja Group, has crossed a significant milestone by generating more than 4 terawatt-hours (TWh) of clean electricity since its inception, helping avoid an estimated 3.17 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO?) emissions. The achievement has been highlighted in the company's FY2025-26 Sustainability Report, Empowering a Sustainable Tomorrow, which outlines its progress across environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and its long-term commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2040.

HREPL currently operates a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 1.1 GWp across India, while its total pipeline of operational and under-development projects has grown to around 3 GWp, spanning utility-scale solar and wind assets. The company is also expanding into energy storage through Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and pumped hydro storage projects, reflecting the industry's increasing focus on improving grid flexibility and ensuring reliable integration of renewable power. During FY2025-26 alone, HREPL generated 1.103 TWh of renewable electricity, supporting its strategic Mission 10-2030, which targets the development of 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Beyond capacity expansion, the company continued to improve the sustainability of its operations through resource-efficient technologies. HREPL reported a 60-70 percent reduction in water consumption for solar module cleaning by deploying robotic cleaning systems across most of its solar facilities. In addition, more than 99 percent of operational waste generated during the year was recycled through authorised recyclers, strengthening the company's circular economy practices and reducing its environmental footprint.

The company also expanded its community development initiatives through water conservation projects across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. These programmes created over 62.33 million litres of additional water storage capacity, supporting local communities through water harvesting infrastructure and awareness initiatives focused on sustainable water management. Such projects form an important part of HREPL's broader ESG strategy, which combines renewable energy development with social and environmental impact.

HREPL also reported significant progress in workforce development and governance during the financial year. Its employee strength doubled compared to the previous year, while the company maintained 100 percent health insurance coverage for its workforce and continued investments in skill development, anti-corruption training and workplace safety. Approximately 446,122 occupational health and safety (OHS) training hours were conducted during the year, with emergency response plans implemented across all operational sites to strengthen safety standards and operational resilience.

India's renewable energy sector continues to expand rapidly as the country works towards achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based installed power capacity by 2030 and its Net Zero emissions target by 2070. Alongside the growth of solar and wind generation, investments in energy storage, digital asset management and ESG-led business practices are becoming increasingly important for improving grid stability and attracting long-term capital. Companies such as HREPL are aligning their growth strategies with these national priorities by combining renewable energy expansion with sustainability-driven operational improvements.

Looking ahead, HREPL plans to accelerate the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, commercial and industrial clean energy solutions and advanced storage technologies. By integrating digital technologies, responsible resource management and long-term decarbonisation goals into its business strategy, the company aims to strengthen its position as an integrated clean energy platform while contributing to India's transition towards a more resilient and sustainable power sector.
