The 7th Fraunhofer Innovation and Technology Platform (FIT) 2025, held in New Delhi, underscored deepening Indo-German collaboration in microelectronics and semiconductors. Co-hosted by Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and India’s EPIC Foundation, and supported by MeitY, the event launched a joint knowledge paper detailing strategic pathways for innovation, workforce development, and co-development in next-gen chip technologies.

Key focus areas included CMOS design, MEMS, sensor systems, advanced packaging, and system reliability—aligned with India’s semiconductor self-reliance goals. Prof. Dr. Albert Heuberger, leading a 12-member German expert delegation, emphasized the critical role of microelectronics in bridging research and industry, pledging support to India's semiconductor mission.

Anandi Iyer, Director of Fraunhofer India, highlighted Fraunhofer's long-standing investment in India, including €70 million in research, largely driven by SMEs. The valedictory session featured remarks from German Ambassador Dr. Philipp Ackermann and NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson Suman Bery, followed by a panel with industry and research leaders.

The event reaffirms the Indo-German alliance as a powerful force in accelerating India's capabilities in semiconductor innovation and applied research.
