ISGF and Gujarat Government Partner to Accelerate Smart Grid and Digital Energy Initiatives
Jan 17, 2026
The India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) and the Government of Gujarat have formalised a strategic collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) held at Marwadi University, Rajkot.
The MoU was exchanged during the inaugural session of the conference between Preeti Sharma, Director at Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), and Reji Kumar Pillai, President of ISGF.
Under the agreement, ISGF and the state government will jointly work across multiple focus areas, including smart grid development and grid modernisation, digital power systems and AI-driven grid operations, integration of renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure and e-mobility, cybersecurity for power systems, as well as policy support and capacity-building initiatives.
The partnership seeks to combine Gujarat’s progressive energy policy environment with ISGF’s technical and advisory expertise to fast-track pilot programs and large-scale deployment of advanced energy solutions across the state. The collaboration is expected to play a key role in strengthening Gujarat’s electricity infrastructure while supporting its transition toward a resilient, digitally enabled, and future-ready power ecosystem.
As part of the implementation roadmap, ISGF will work closely with R. J. Vala, Chief Engineer (Technical), GUVNL, to advance strategic initiatives related to grid upgradation, renewable energy integration, and power sector digitalisation in Gujarat.
Recently, ISGF also signed an MoU with the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) to promote solar energy integration and grid modernisation through technical collaboration, digital tools, and capacity-building programs.
