IWTMA Partners with CEEW to Boost India’s Wind Energy Ambitions

Nov 19, 2025

The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) to accelerate India’s wind energy expansion, supporting the national goal of scaling installed wind capacity to 100 GW by 2030.

Through this collaboration, IWTMA and CEEW will work together to shape strategies that position India as a global center for manufacturing and exporting wind turbines and components. The partnership aims to drive large-scale deployment of both onshore and offshore wind projects by combining IWTMA’s industry expertise with CEEW’s strong analytical and policy capabilities. It will also bring together key stakeholders to highlight the growing importance of wind in India’s clean energy transition.

Aditya Pyasi, CEO of IWTMA, said, “This partnership marks an important milestone in advancing the next phase of India’s wind energy story. By enabling large-scale deployment, reinforcing domestic manufacturing, and creating new employment avenues, we aim not only to strengthen energy security but also to establish India as a global frontrunner in sustainable wind solutions. Together, we can unlock India’s immense wind potential for a cleaner, more resilient, and self-reliant energy future.”

Strengthening India’s wind turbine and component manufacturing ecosystem is expected to significantly support the ‘Make in India’ and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions by positioning the country as a major global manufacturing hub for the wind sector.

Shalu Agrawal, Director–Programmes at CEEW, added, “India’s rising power demand calls for a diverse and well-balanced energy portfolio, and wind will play a central role. Through this partnership, we aim to generate strong evidence on wind energy’s value across India’s power system, manufacturing landscape, and trade opportunities. This collaboration will help unlock untapped potential and support India’s economic transformation for both people and the planet.”
