KEPCO Consortium Secures USD 2.4 Billion, 1.5 GW Wind Project in Saudi Arabia

Oct 29, 2025

A consortium led by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has won Saudi Arabia’s 1.5 GW Dawadmi Wind Power Project, part of the Saudi Power Procurement Company’s (SPPC) broader USD 2.4 billion renewable energy program. The project marks a major step forward in Korea–Saudi collaboration on clean energy development.

The Dawadmi project, located in Riyadh, is among five new renewable energy projects recently awarded by SPPC, collectively adding 4.5 GW of generation capacity. The combined investment value for these projects is estimated at around 9 billion Saudi Riyals (USD 4 billion).

The KEPCO–Nesma consortium, which includes Saudi Arabia’s Nesma Renewable Energy, will spearhead the Dawadmi wind development. The other four projects were awarded to Masdar (UAE), Électricité de France (EDF), and TotalEnergies (France), underscoring Saudi Arabia’s growing global partnerships in the renewable sector.

Earlier the same day, South Korea’s Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Moon Shin-hak, met with Abdullah bin Ali Al-Ahmari, Assistant Minister at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, in Seoul to explore deeper industrial and clean energy cooperation between the two nations.

The Dawadmi wind project further strengthens bilateral ties under the broader Korea–Saudi Vision 2030 framework, aligning with both countries’ shared goals of net-zero transition and economic diversification.
