Musashi India Expands Bengaluru Plant to Strengthen ICE and EV Production
Nov 20, 2025
Musashi India has completed Phase 2 of its Bengaluru manufacturing plant expansion, significantly scaling up capacity to support both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) product lines. The fully modernised facility will become operational by December 2025 and is positioned to serve an expanded customer base across domestic and international markets.
The upgraded plant now spans 32,000 sq. m., including 11,000 sq. m. added under the latest expansion. With enhanced forging, machining, and heat-treatment capabilities, the facility has increased its annual production capacity of scooter and motorcycle transmissions from 4 million to 6.5 million sets. This capacity boost is expected to nearly double the plant’s annual output value—from INR 5.5 billion to INR 10 billion.
This expansion aligns with Musashi India’s long-term roadmap to strengthen its presence in both ICE and EV mobility. The Bengaluru unit will now support a broad portfolio, covering 100–750 cc motorcycles, 100–125 cc scooters, and e-axles for two- and three-wheelers, further cementing its status as a key manufacturing hub for domestic supply and export markets.
To ensure precision and operational efficiency, the plant integrates advanced automation technologies including gear grinding, automated gear verification, camera-based inspection, robotics, gantry systems, and pick-and-place automation. It will also act as a prototype and testing centre for ICE transmission systems and e-axles, driving Musashi’s focus on engineering innovation.
In line with Musashi’s global ESG commitments, the expanded facility incorporates sustainability-driven features such as a 2.16 million kWh rooftop solar plant, natural ventilation systems, and emission-control mechanisms for power generators. More than 96% of the plant’s energy is sourced from hydro, wind, rooftop solar, and captive renewable systems, supporting the company’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its value chain by 2038.
Commenting on the milestone, Naoya Nishimura, CEO of Musashi Auto Parts India and Africa Region, said that the Bengaluru expansion represents a significant achievement for the company. Built within just 18 months, it now stands as the largest integrated manufacturing facility within the Musashi Group. Nishimura noted that the project reflects the company’s “Go Far Beyond” philosophy—combining automation, sustainability and precision engineering to set a new benchmark for the industry. He added that the enhanced facility will further strengthen Musashi India’s contribution to the global EV supply chain and next-generation mobility ecosystem.
Musashi India plans to advance this momentum by expanding its manufacturing footprint, diversifying its product portfolio, and scaling its e-mobility and R&D capabilities to meet evolving customer needs across India and the Africa region.
