NHPC Issues Tender for 125 MW/500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System in Kerala

NHPC has launched a tender to select developers for the installation of a 125 MW / 500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Kerala. The project, part of NHPC’s Tranche-I-BESS initiative, is aimed at meeting evening peak demand with a single cycle of charging and discharging.
The tender specifies that the BESS will be connected to the State Transmission Utility (STU) network and will be spread across four locations in Kerala. Viability gap funding (VGF) support is provided, and the last date for submitting bids is February 21, 2025.
