Premier Energies Introduces Zero Busbar TOPCon Solar Cell at Intersolar Gandhinagar

Feb 27, 2026

Integrated solar manufacturer Premier Energies has launched its Zero Busbar (0BB) TOPCon solar cell at Intersolar Gandhinagar, marking a significant step forward in solar cell design and engineering.

The Zero Busbar architecture moves away from conventional 10BB and 16BB formats by eliminating thick silver busbars and instead using a dense grid of ultra-fine silver lines for current collection. This design substantially lowers silver consumption, reduces shading losses, and enhances overall power output compared to traditional cell structures.

In addition to improving efficiency, the 0BB configuration increases mechanical flexibility, reduces stress during cell interconnection, and offers better resistance to micro-cracks. These features contribute to improved durability and sustained performance, particularly under challenging Indian climatic conditions.

Sudhir Reddy, Chief Strategy Officer at Premier Energies, described the innovation as a comprehensive redesign rather than a minor upgrade, emphasizing that reduced silver usage combined with higher efficiency and durability strengthens both cost economics and sustainability. He noted that the development reinforces the company’s focus on advancing high-efficiency solar manufacturing in India.

Chandra Mauli Kumar, Chief Production Officer, highlighted that scaling up 0BB technology required advanced manufacturing precision and process innovation. He added that the company’s integrated production capabilities allow it to achieve improved crack tolerance, lower interconnection stress, and consistent performance even in extreme temperatures.
