Relux Electric Pvt. Ltd., a leading name in India’s EV charging infrastructure sector, has partnered with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) to establish nine electric vehicle charging stations across key public locations in Chennai.

These government-designated sites form the first milestone in Tamil Nadu’s broader push toward cleaner mobility, building on TNGECL’s larger agreement with Relux to deploy 500 charging stations statewide. Unlike older installations, the new facilities will be strategically positioned in high-traffic, easily accessible public zones to make EV charging quicker and more convenient for daily commuters.

A GCC official noted that the initiative is aligned with the city’s commitment to reducing vehicular emissions and promoting cleaner transportation. The official added that expanding dependable charging options in prominent public areas will support Chennai’s shift toward sustainable, energy-efficient mobility solutions for all residents.

The nine stations will come up at several major hotspots: Marina Beach Parking, Besant Nagar Beach Parking, Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore, Bougainvillea Park in Anna Nagar, Semmozhi Poonga in Teynampet, Corporation Playground Parking in T. Nagar, Somasundaram Park in T. Nagar, Mangal Lake Park in Ambattur, and Ashtalakshmi Temple Parking in Besant Nagar.

Dr. Karthikeyan S., Managing Director of Relux Electric, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that the company aims to offer fast, reliable, and globally benchmarked charging experiences. He said that partnerships with GCC and TNGECL will help strengthen public confidence in EV adoption and advance Chennai’s vision of a greener, low-carbon future.

All nine charging stations are expected to be operational before December 2025. Each location will cover around 500 sq ft, support concurrent charging for two cars and three two-wheelers, and offer fast-charging options for four-wheelers.

The project reinforces Tamil Nadu’s expanding EV roadmap by widening charging access, reducing emissions, and promoting cleaner mobility across the state.
