Roofsol Energy to Install 12.8 MWp Rooftop Solar Capacity at Motherson Facilities Nationwide
Jan 03, 2026
Roofsol Energy has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Motherson Group to roll out 12.8 MWp of rooftop and behind-the-meter solar power systems across several of the automotive major’s manufacturing plants in India.
The solar installations will be implemented across Motherson’s facilities located in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and Puducherry. The projects will follow a hybrid deployment approach, combining OPEX (RESCO) and CAPEX business models to suit site-specific requirements.
As part of the agreement, Roofsol Energy will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of the projects, including system design, engineering, installation, operation, and maintenance. Once completed, the combined solar capacity is expected to generate over 14 million units of clean electricity annually.
According to the company, the initiative is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 5,500–5,700 tonnes of CO2 each year, supporting Motherson Group’s sustainability goals and strengthening renewable energy adoption across its Indian operations.
Earlier in May 2025, Roofsol Energy secured Rs210 crore in funding from Aseem Infrastructure Finance to develop 92.66 MWp of independent power producer (IPP) and group captive solar assets across the country. The company has also recently commissioned 14 solar EPC projects totaling nearly 29 MWp, spanning 12 states and five industrial sectors in India.
