Rooftop Solar Homeowners in Lucknow to Receive 10 % Tax Relief

Lucknow households that have installed rooftop solar systems will now be eligible for a 10% rebate on residential house tax and water tax, following the latest decision of the LMC executive committee.

The proposal, cleared during Thursday’s meeting, forms part of a broader set of initiatives focused on urban development, sanitation improvements and public order. The session was chaired by Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and attended by Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Executive Vice-President Charanjeet Gandhi, and other senior officials.

As part of the effort to promote clean energy and advance the PM Surya Awas Yojana, the committee approved the tax incentive to motivate citizens to adopt rooftop solar and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. Officials noted that the move is intended to accelerate renewable energy usage across the city.

In addition to the solar incentive, the mayor instructed zonal officers to identify and remove illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya settlers within one month.

The committee also cleared several proposals related to renaming public spaces. Notably, the stretch from Ring Road to Sahara Estate in Jankipuram Ward II has been designated as Music Maestro Kamla Srivastava Marg.
