THINK Gas Partners with Tata Motors to Accelerate India’s LNG Trucking Network

Oct 31, 2025

THINK Gas has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors to strengthen India’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) refuelling ecosystem for long-haul and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. The collaboration aims to advance cleaner freight operations by expanding LNG infrastructure, promoting fuel quality awareness, and encouraging wider adoption of LNG-powered trucks.

Under the partnership, THINK Gas and Tata Motors will jointly identify key freight corridors and logistics hubs to support the rollout of LNG infrastructure across India. THINK Gas will ensure high standards of fuel quality, safety, and supply reliability, enabling optimal vehicle performance and operational efficiency. Additionally, exclusive benefits and preferential pricing will be extended to Tata Motors’ LNG truck customers.

Somil Garg, Senior Vice President and Business Head (LNG Fuel) at THINK Gas, said:

“Our mission is to make cleaner fuels accessible and affordable across India. Partnering with Tata Motors—a pioneer in alternative-fuel mobility—will help us strategically expand our LNG network. Backed by our global investors, including I-Squared Capital, Osaka Gas, Sumitomo Corporation, Konoike Transport, and JOIN, we are committed to building a robust, safe, and sustainable LNG infrastructure nationwide.”

At present, THINK Gas operates 18 Liquefied and Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) stations, with several more in development. The company is focused on accelerating India’s shift towards low-emission transportation through an expanding network of refuelling infrastructure.

Tata Motors, a leader in alternative-fuel and advanced mobility technologies, continues to pioneer innovations across battery-electric, CNG, LNG, hydrogen internal combustion, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Commenting on the partnership, Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head – Trucks at Tata Motors, stated:

“As India progresses towards sustainable freight mobility, LNG stands out as a strong solution for long-haul and heavy-duty applications. We have developed advanced LNG-powered trucks that deliver superior efficiency and performance with reduced emissions. This collaboration with THINK Gas will further strengthen refuelling infrastructure and help fleet operators transition to LNG with confidence. It marks another step in our commitment to developing cleaner, future-ready mobility solutions for India’s commercial transport sector.”
