EV charging solutions provider ThunderPlus has strengthened its presence in Telangana with the launch of a new public EV charging franchise at the GMR Filling Station in Patancheru, Hyderabad. The facility marks another step in the company’s franchise-driven strategy to scale charging infrastructure across India.

The charging station was formally inaugurated by Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy, who highlighted the growing relevance of electric mobility in rapidly developing regions such as Patancheru. He noted that rising EV adoption, supported by policy initiatives and incentives from both the Central and State governments, is reshaping the transportation landscape. The MLA also emphasised that EV charging infrastructure presents new opportunities for youth entrepreneurship and sustainable self-employment.

Multi-Segment Charging Infrastructure

Designed to serve a broad range of electric vehicles, the newly commissioned facility supports two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers. It is equipped with a 60 kW DC fast charger featuring dual charging guns, a 7.4 kW AC charger, and two 3.3 kW chargers, enabling multiple vehicles to charge simultaneously with reduced waiting time.

Franchise-Led Growth Strategy

Speaking at the inauguration, Rajeev YSR, Executive Director and CEO of ThunderPlus, said the Patancheru launch represents another milestone in the company’s expanding franchise network. He highlighted ThunderPlus’ Minimum Business Guarantee programme, which offers partners predictable and assured returns, as a key driver behind the rapid rollout of new franchises nationwide.

He added that each franchise strengthens ThunderPlus’ national footprint and supports its vision of building a reliable, accessible and pan-India EV charging ecosystem. By collaborating with fuel station owners, landowners and entrepreneurs, the company is repurposing existing infrastructure into future-ready clean mobility hubs.

Fuel Stations as EV Charging Anchors

According to the company, fuel stations are uniquely positioned to anchor India’s EV charging expansion due to their strategic locations, high footfall and operational readiness. ThunderPlus’ low-capital, fast-deployment franchise model enables partners to participate in the electric mobility transition while generating sustainable returns, while also contributing to local job creation.

The Patancheru facility is ThunderPlus’ seventh operational EV charging franchise. The company has set an ambitious target to roll out 100 EV charging franchises across the country within the next six months, aimed at accelerating EV adoption and expanding entrepreneurial opportunities in the clean mobility sector.
