Tsuyo Manufacturing Signs LOI with Karnataka Government to Set Up Advanced EV Powertrain Facility
Nov 21, 2025
Tsuyo Manufacturing has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Government of Karnataka to establish a state-of-the-art EV powertrain manufacturing facility, along with a large dedicated testing track for commercial vehicles. The agreement follows the company’s announcement at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025.
The LOI was formalised in the presence of Priyank Kharge, Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, IT & Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka; senior state officials; Lalit L. Baid, Director at Tsuyo Manufacturing; and representatives from MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications.
The upcoming plant is designed to develop the next generation of advanced, heavy-duty EV powertrain systems catering to commercial mobility and industrial applications. The facility will focus on producing electric motors—including IPMSM, ACIM, SRM, SynRM, and Axial Flux technologies—along with e-drives, e-axles, automatic transmissions (AT), integrated 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 powertrain systems, complete powertrain assemblies for heavy commercial EVs, and a comprehensive test track for field validation of buses, trucks, mining vehicles, and other heavy-duty electric platforms.
The manufacturing unit will support production capacities from 0.5 kW to 250 kW, with potential expansion up to 600 kW through Tsuyo’s strategic partnerships with CETL and LvKON.
Vijay Kumar, Founder and CEO of Tsuyo Manufacturing, said, “This LOI marks a pivotal moment for Tsuyo and the future of India’s EV ecosystem. Karnataka has always been a leader in innovation and advanced manufacturing, and we are proud to collaborate with the state to build a world-class facility that will redefine powertrain excellence for heavy commercial EVs. Our aim is to deliver reliable, globally competitive, and locally manufactured powertrain solutions that support India’s transition to sustainable mobility.”
The initiative is expected to significantly bolster domestic manufacturing by enabling India to produce high-performance EV powertrain components locally, reducing dependency on imports and strengthening supply chain resilience. With its extensive capabilities across motors, e-axles, transmissions, and integrated solutions, the facility is set to accelerate growth in India’s heavy commercial EV sector, supporting the expanding bus, truck, mining, and industrial mobility markets. The project will also generate substantial direct and indirect employment, contributing to Karnataka’s larger industrial growth objectives. The integrated testing track will further drive innovation by enabling faster development and validation of powertrain technologies suited to India’s diverse terrain and usage conditions.
Commenting on the signing, Priyank Kharge said, “We are delighted that Tsuyo Manufacturing has chosen to expand operations in Dharwad, Karnataka. Their decision strengthens our LEAP (Local Economy Accelerator Program) vision and reinforces Karnataka’s position as a hub for industry-friendly policies and a thriving EV ecosystem. This investment will not only create high-quality jobs in North Karnataka but also accelerate innovation and green mobility solutions for the state and the nation.”
