Adani Green Energy Brings 50 MW Solar Capacity Online at Khavda, Boosting Total Renewables to 17.29 GW

Jan 27, 2026

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has commenced operations of a 50 MW solar power project at Khavda in Gujarat, further expanding its operational renewable energy portfolio. The project has been commissioned through the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A.

In a regulatory filing, AGEL stated that following receipt of the necessary approvals, a decision was taken at 10:49 a.m. on January 25, 2026, to declare the plant operational and begin power generation from the same date.

With the commissioning of this facility, AGEL’s total operational renewable energy capacity has increased to 17,287.2 MW, reinforcing its position among India’s leading renewable power producers.

The Khavda project forms part of AGEL’s broader development at the site, where the company is building what it describes as the world’s largest renewable energy complex. The planned 30 GW project is being developed across approximately 538 square kilometres of arid land in Kutch, Gujarat. Once completed, the facility is expected to become the largest power plant globally across all energy sources, according to the company.

AGEL currently develops, owns, and operates utility-scale grid-connected solar, wind, hybrid, and hydro-pumped storage projects across 12 Indian states. The company reported a 30 percent year-on-year increase in operational capacity in FY25, reflecting rapid expansion of its renewable assets.

Looking ahead, AGEL aims to scale its renewable portfolio to 50 GW by 2030, supported by a planned investment of around USD 21 billion. The expansion strategy includes solar, wind, hybrid, and pumped storage projects. The company has already secured more than 5 GW of pumped storage project sites and is increasing its focus on the commercial and industrial (C&I) and merchant power segments.

To support its growth pipeline, AGEL has also arranged a USD 3.4 billion revolving construction facility.
