BatteryPool Secures INR 8 Crore in Pre-Series A Funding Led by Inflection Point Ventures

Nov 28, 2025

BatteryPool has raised INR 8 crore in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), with additional participation from the Indian Angel Network (IAN), Chennai Angels, Keiretsu Forum, and several prominent HNIs. The company plans to use the capital to scale its battery fleet tenfold over the next 18 months and expand its presence across India.

The company’s strength lies in its proprietary hardware and IoT-enabled battery management system, which powers one of India’s most flexible sachet-style, pay-as-you-go energy platforms for electric vehicles. By enabling daily, weekly, or monthly micro-payments, BatteryPool has made EV usage more accessible, accelerating adoption across multiple cities and lowering entry barriers for a wider base of riders.

Vikram Ramasubramanian, Partner and Chief Investment Officer at IPV, noted that India’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem requires fast and efficient charging solutions, as delays directly impact revenue for commercial EV users. He highlighted BatteryPool’s model of providing seamless, pay-as-you-go access to charged batteries, which supports continuous mobility for both riders and businesses. He also emphasized the company’s ability to monetize batteries throughout their lifecycle, unlocking multiple revenue streams from a single asset.

Founded in 2020 by Ashwin Shankar, a Stanford-trained electrical engineer with experience at Schlumberger and NASA, BatteryPool combines deep hardware expertise with systems-level policy understanding. Shankar explained that sachet-style models—popularized through mobile data and daily essentials in India—are now transforming EV adoption. By applying this approach to battery access, BatteryPool aims to make electric mobility more affordable and user-friendly. Looking ahead, the company aims to strengthen its ecosystem, enhance battery access, improve user experience, and support everyday riders as India accelerates toward an electric future.
