Eastman Commissions 800 MW Solar PV Manufacturing Facility in Sonipat

Mar 12, 2026

Eastman Auto & Power Ltd. has commissioned an 800 MW (0.80 GW) solar PV panel and module manufacturing facility in Sonipat, strengthening India’s domestic solar manufacturing capacity and supporting the country’s push for self-reliance in renewable energy.

The new facility represents a major step in Eastman’s solar manufacturing expansion and strengthens its position as a backward-integrated solar solutions provider. The company now offers a wide range of products including solar PV panels and modules, grid-tie, off-grid and hybrid inverters, along with advanced energy storage batteries, enabling it to deliver integrated solar energy systems.

With an increased focus on solar-plus-storage solutions, Eastman aims to provide integrated energy systems that combine solar power generation with battery storage. These solutions are designed to support residential, commercial, and industrial consumers by delivering reliable and clean power through turnkey solar installations.

The company’s solar products are Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)-compliant, helping customers meet regulatory requirements while ensuring compatibility between different system components. This approach is expected to improve installation efficiency, reduce system costs, and enhance long-term service reliability.

Commenting on the development, Shekhar Singal stated that the company is focused on strengthening India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem in line with the Make in India initiative.

He added that integrating solar generation with energy storage technologies will help accelerate rooftop solar adoption under programmes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, while providing reliable and cost-effective energy solutions for consumers.

Eastman also highlighted its “Made in India” manufacturing strategy, which prioritises local sourcing to reduce dependence on imported solar components. Panels and modules produced at the Sonipat facility comply with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) standards, ensuring eligibility for government-supported solar programmes.

Through expanded manufacturing capacity and integrated solar-plus-storage solutions, Eastman aims to contribute to the continued growth of India’s clean energy sector and long-term sustainability goals.
