Fujiyama Power Systems Brings 1 GW Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility Online in Uttar Pradesh

Jan 22, 2026

Fujiyama Power Systems, operating under the UTL Solar brand, has announced the commissioning of a 1 GW Mono PERC solar cell manufacturing facility in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh. The project involves an investment of approximately Rs 300 crore, financed through a mix of internal funds and debt.

The new plant was inaugurated by Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), along with Rajesh Kulhari, Joint Secretary, MNRE.

The Dadri facility has been developed as part of Fujiyama’s strategy to strengthen vertical integration within its manufacturing operations. The company currently has a total solar module manufacturing capacity of 1.6 GW, with 1.2 GW located at the Dadri site. The newly commissioned 1 GW solar cell line will be fully utilized for captive consumption to support its in-house module production.

Commenting on the development, Pawan Kumar Garg, Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Fujiyama Power Systems, said the commissioning marks a major milestone in enhancing the company’s manufacturing integration. He noted that the facility was completed within six months—significantly faster than typical industry timelines—and achieved cost efficiencies compared to the initial budget. By adding in-house solar cell production, the company aims to improve supply-chain visibility, reduce reliance on imported cells, and ensure greater reliability for its module manufacturing operations.

Garg further stated that Fujiyama’s strong focus on the domestic market, with minimal exposure to exports, allows the integrated facility to shield the company from global trade volatility and tariff-related risks. The new plant also aligns with the company’s long-term objective of strengthening indigenous manufacturing capabilities while scaling end-to-end solar solutions across India.

The facility will produce Mono PERC domestic content requirement (DCR) solar cells, enabling Fujiyama to cater to demand driven by government-backed solar subsidy programs. The company added that the move enhances supply security, improves cost control, and strengthens its competitive positioning in the rooftop solar segment by offering fully integrated solar solutions to Indian consumers.
