GIPCL Brings 150 MW Solar Capacity Online at Khavda Renewable Energy Park

Nov 22, 2025

Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd. (GIPCL) has activated the fourth 150 MW phase of its ongoing 600 MW solar project at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, taking the site’s total operational solar capacity to 465 MW.

The latest commissioning marks another milestone at the 2,375 MW Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat. The earlier three phases—each adding 105 MW—were brought online in June, September, and October 2025.

With this addition, GIPCL’s cumulative installed solar capacity has risen to 8,022 MW.

GIPCL has been consistently expanding its renewable energy footprint across Gujarat. In May 2025, the company commissioned a 75 MW captive solar plant for Vastan Group, developed on reclaimed land at the Vastan Mine in Surat district. Its past solar installations include a 100 MW project at Raghanesda Solar Park (commissioned in 2021) and 75 MW and 80 MW projects at Gujarat Solar Park in Village Charanka, commissioned in 2019 and 2017, respectively.

Beyond solar, the company also operates 112.4 MW of wind power projects in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, along with 810 MW of thermal generation capacity.

In a key development earlier this year, the Energy and Petrochemicals Department of the Government of Gujarat approved GIPCL’s plan to set up a 700–750 MW lignite-based power plant at Valia. The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) Board has also granted in-principle approval to procure 700 MW of power from this proposed plant for 25 years, pending clearance from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC).
