GIPCL Completes 600 MW Solar Portfolio at Khavda Park with Final Phase Commissioning

Jan 02, 2026

Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) has brought its entire 600 MW solar power project at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat into commercial operation, following the successful commissioning of the final 135 MW phase, the company said in a regulatory disclosure.

The Khavda solar project was executed in multiple stages. GIPCL commissioned three initial phases of 105 MW each during June, September, and October 2025. This was followed by the commissioning of a 150 MW fourth phase in November 2025, culminating in the activation of the last 135 MW capacity to achieve full project completion.

With the Khavda project now fully operational, GIPCL’s total installed solar capacity has risen to 8,157 MW, strengthening its position in India’s renewable energy landscape.

The company has steadily expanded its clean energy portfolio in recent years. In May 2025, GIPCL commissioned a 75 MW captive solar plant for the Vastan Group on reclaimed mining land at Vastan Taluka in Surat district. Earlier additions include a 100 MW solar project at the Raghanesda Solar Park, commissioned in 2021, as well as 75 MW and 80 MW solar installations at the Gujarat Solar Park in Charanka, brought online in 2019 and 2017, respectively.

Beyond solar, GIPCL operates 112.4 MW of wind power capacity across the Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat and maintains 810 MW of thermal power capacity.

Looking ahead, the company is also progressing on conventional generation projects. In August 2025, the Government of Gujarat’s Energy and Petrochemicals Department approved GIPCL’s proposal to set up a 700–750 MW lignite-based power plant at Valia. The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has granted in-principle approval to procure power from the proposed 700 MW lignite-based plant for 25 years, subject to clearance from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC).
