Group Surya Commissions 500 MW G12R Solar Module Line in Odisha
Mar 02, 2026
Group Surya has inaugurated a 500 MW G12R solar module manufacturing line in Odisha, marking the state’s first facility capable of producing G12R modules. The new production line has been set up by its parent entity, Surya International Enterprise Limited, as part of efforts to strengthen India’s renewable energy manufacturing base.
The fully automated line is engineered for high-volume and high-efficiency output, with an annual production capacity of 500 MW and a rapid cycle time of 20–25 seconds per module. Located in Bhubaneswar, the facility is slated for expansion to 1 GW within the next four to five months to meet rising demand from domestic as well as overseas markets.
The G12R line supports module output ranging from 450 W to 735 W, catering to utility-scale, commercial, and residential applications. It is compatible with multiple advanced technologies, including TOPCon, HJT, bifacial, half-cut, and dual-glass configurations. The production system features a fully automated workflow integrated with AI-based inspection systems, helping achieve an ultra-low breakage rate of fewer than five defects per 10,000 modules. The company stated that its AI-driven quality control mechanisms reduce defects by 97–98%, ensuring adherence to global performance and reliability standards.
The manufacturing operations will run under Iyro, Group Surya’s premium solar solutions brand focused on delivering next-generation, high-efficiency photovoltaic modules for both Indian and international markets.
Commenting on the development, Group Director Kamlesh Kumar Singh said the commissioning aligns with the company’s broader strategy to build globally competitive manufacturing capabilities in line with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. He added that investments in advanced technologies and expanded production capacity are aimed at improving operational efficiency and long-term value creation.
The launch of the G12R line forms part of Group Surya’s larger strategic roadmap, which includes expanding its footprint across green fuels, PPP-mode projects, green hydrogen, and green ammonia, alongside preparations for planned IPO initiatives.
