Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has issued a tender for developing 2000 MW/4000 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the state of Gujarat. The tender will be conducted under a tariff-based competitive bidding framework with support from the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) mechanism facilitated through the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) under Phase-VII.

The selection process will be followed by an e-reverse auction to ensure transparency and cost-effectiveness. Interested bidders can access the tender documents via www.bharat-electronictender.com and www.guvnl.com. The deadline for online bid submission is set for September 11, 2025.

This large-scale energy storage tender aligns with Gujaratโ€™s efforts to strengthen grid reliability and manage the intermittency of renewable energy. GUVNLโ€™s initiative represents one of the largest storage procurements in the country to date, reflecting Indiaโ€™s growing focus on flexible and dispatchable power infrastructure.
