Hindustan Power Adds Close to 1 GW of Solar Capacity and 750 MWh of Storage Through 2025 Project Wins

Dec 31, 2025

Hindustan Power has significantly strengthened its renewable energy footprint in 2025 by securing nearly 1 GW of solar power capacity alongside approximately 750 MWh of battery energy storage projects across multiple Indian states. The latest project awards mark a major step forward in the company’s clean energy growth strategy as it works toward building a 5 GW portfolio by 2028.

Under the leadership of Chairman Ratul Puri, the company has expanded its integrated renewable portfolio through a mix of standalone solar installations and hybrid projects that combine photovoltaic generation with energy storage solutions. Since the beginning of 2025, Hindustan Power has added close to 1 GW of solar capacity and more than 0.75 GWh of storage assets to its development pipeline.

One of the company’s key achievements includes signing a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation for a 435 MWp solar project. The project will contribute substantially to the state’s long-term renewable energy supply.

Hindustan Power has also secured an Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected project awarded by SJVN. This project involves the installation of 200 MWp of solar generation capacity coupled with over 250 MWh of battery energy storage, enhancing grid flexibility and reliability.

In another milestone, the company entered into a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement with the Bihar State Power Generation Company for a 120 MWh standalone storage project. Spread across three substations, the project will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) framework.

Further strengthening its portfolio, Hindustan Power recently won an ISTS-connected project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The award includes 150 MW of contracted capacity, supported by approximately 300 MWp of solar installations and 360 MWh of battery storage. The project was awarded through a competitive bidding and e-reverse auction process.

Commenting on the company’s progress, Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said the integration of renewable generation with advanced storage systems enables the delivery of flexible and dispatchable power solutions. He added that these developments would support state grid stability while accelerating India’s transition toward a sustainable and resilient energy future.
