India–UK/Europe Green Corridor Vision Submitted to President Droupadi Murmu by Industry Delegation

Feb 27, 2026

A high-level delegation of business leaders from India, the UK, and Europe met Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to present the India–UK/Europe Green Corridor vision. The group, led by Rajashree Birla, included representatives from sectors such as metals and mining, energy, clean mobility, circular economy, finance, and climate technology.

The proposed Green Corridor is designed as a cross-border collaboration platform to fast-track industrial decarbonisation, promote clean mobility, strengthen circular economy practices, and enable sustainable trade. It aims to drive partnerships, facilitate technology transfer, and mobilise catalytic capital between Indian and European stakeholders.

Discussions during the meeting focused on translating the vision into tangible action through lighthouse projects, cross-border industry alliances, and commercially viable collaborations. The initiative aligns with the recently concluded India–UK/Europe Free Trade Agreement, positioning sustainability and resilient supply chains at the centre of future trade expansion.

The delegation comprised senior executives from leading organisations including Aditya Birla Group, Hindalco Industries, UltraTech Cement, Thermax, Volvo Group, Bayer CropScience, Energy Efficiency Services Limited, Xynteo, Leon Capital, and Origination Foundation.

Rajashree Birla, Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, described the Corridor as a strategic bridge that enables companies to co-develop solutions, unlock new markets, and deliver measurable climate and social impact. Satish Pai, Managing Director of Hindalco Industries, noted that the platform marks a transition from policy discussions to large-scale industrial action aimed at accelerating decarbonisation.

The roadmap for the Green Corridor will be further shaped at India Exchange 2026, hosted by Xynteo with support from Aditya Birla Group in New Delhi on February 24–25. The event is expected to convene over 180 business leaders to formalise governance structures, set priorities, and initiate collaborative projects spanning industrial decarbonisation, clean mobility, and circular economy. Strategic partners include Mahindra Group, Hindustan Unilever, Marico, Marico Innovation Foundation, Khaitan & Co, and JSW Cement.
