JBM & Sodecia to Establish INR 150 Cr Hot Stamping Facility in Pune for High-Strength Automotive Components
Nov 23, 2025
JBM Group has joined hands with Portugal’s Sodecia to develop a Rs150-crore hot stamping plant in Pune, aimed at producing lightweight, safety-critical components for both internal combustion and electric vehicles by Q2 FY27.
JBM Group and Sodecia Automotive International SA have formalized a partnership to build a state-of-the-art hot stamping facility in Pune. The foundation stone was laid at JBM’s Neel Metal Products campus in Chakan by Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat, in the presence of senior leaders from both organisations.
Backed by INR 150 crore, the plant is slated to commence operations by Q2 FY27. It will produce high-strength, lightweight, and safety-critical automotive structures for both ICE and EV platforms. The facility will combine JBM’s four decades of manufacturing know-how with Sodecia’s global expertise in hot stamping technologies.
Hot stamping—also known as press hardening—involves heating sheet metal and rapidly cooling it within specialized dies to achieve ultra-high strength while keeping components lightweight. This process is vital for meeting stringent emissions standards and supporting the development of advanced electric-vehicle architectures.
According to S.K. Arya, Chairman of JBM Group, the joint venture reflects a shared vision centred on safety, innovation, and sustainable mobility. Rui Monteiro, CEO of Sodecia, emphasized that the collaboration brings world-class technology to India’s expanding automotive ecosystem.
The partnership further enhances JBM Group’s established hot stamping network, complementing existing units such as its die-manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. It also reinforces the company's position as a trusted global supplier to automotive OEMs.
