KPI Green Energy Adds 24.2 MW Capacity to 250 MW Solar IPP Project in Gujarat

Mar 10, 2026

KPI Green Energy, part of the KP Group, has commissioned an additional 24.2 MW AC / 35.01 MW DC capacity under its 250 MW AC / 350 MW DC grid-connected solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) project awarded by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

Following this commissioning, the total operational capacity of the project has increased to 48.4 MW AC / 69.41 MW DC, according to a regulatory filing by the company.

The company noted that the latest commissioning represents another milestone in the phased execution of the large-scale solar project. The project is scheduled for full completion by October 2026, and the company remains focused on commissioning the remaining capacity as planned while supporting India’s transition toward renewable energy.

Recently, KPI Green Energy’s subsidiary Sun Drops Energia signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with GUVNL to develop 445 MW / 890 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Gujarat with support from viability gap funding (VGF).

Earlier in January 2026, the company also began power generation from its 200 MW AC / 240 MW DC grid-connected solar project at Khavda, supplying electricity to GUVNL under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). Additionally, KPI Green Energy announced the early commissioning of its 92.15 MWp wind-solar hybrid IPP project, which was synchronized with the Gujarat state grid ahead of its July 2026 scheduled timeline.

Overall, KPI Green Energy’s combined installed and upcoming renewable energy capacity now exceeds 4.74 GW, including 2.17 GW in the IPP segment and 2.57 GW under the Captive Power Producer (CPP) segment. The company also holds an order book of 3.61 GW, providing strong revenue visibility for the future.

The company’s installed capacity has crossed 1.12 GW, supported by a land bank of nearly 6,999 acres and power evacuation infrastructure exceeding 3.57 GW. Looking ahead, KP Group aims to develop more than 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, further expanding its presence in India’s clean energy sector.
