L&T Wins Fresh EPC Contracts for Grid Projects in India and the Middle East

Feb 26, 2026

The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) arm of Larsen & Toubro has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders to strengthen electricity grid infrastructure in India and across the Middle East.

In India, the business vertical has been awarded contracts for the design, supply, and construction of two 220 kV Gas Insulated Substations in the Durgapur–Raniganj–Asansol industrial corridor of West Bengal. The scope of work also includes associated transmission line sections featuring advanced conductors and multi-circuit towers. These upgrades are aimed at improving voltage stability and enhancing the reliability of power supply for industries and infrastructure projects in the region.

Internationally, L&T’s PT&D division has won turnkey orders from leading utilities in three Middle Eastern countries. The projects involve the development of five substations and more than 250 km of transmission lines, with capacities reaching up to 500 kV. One of the assignments also includes the supply and installation of a 400 kV underground cable system.

With rising electricity demand, evolving energy mixes, and increasing focus on grid security, investments in advanced transmission infrastructure are becoming a strategic priority for fast-growing economies. These new orders further reinforce L&T’s presence in the global power transmission and distribution segment.
