Mahindra Susten Brings 560 MW of Utility-Scale Solar Capacity Online Across Gujarat and Rajasthan

Jan 03, 2026

Mahindra Susten, the clean energy arm of the Mahindra Group, commissioned 560 MW of utility-scale solar capacity during 2025, marking a key milestone in the company’s post-asset monetisation growth strategy.

The newly operational capacity comprises two solar projects of 280 MW each, located in Gujarat and Rajasthan. These assets represent the first set of projects developed and commissioned by Mahindra Susten following the transfer of 1.54 GW of renewable energy assets in 2024 to Sustainable Energy Infra Trust, an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) co-sponsored by the company. The move aligns with Mahindra Susten’s capital-light business model.

Power generated from the two projects is supplied to state utilities in Gujarat and Rajasthan under long-term power purchase agreements with a tenure of 25 years.

In December 2024, Mahindra Susten secured project financing worth Rs14.48 billion (approximately $170.6 million) from HDFC Bank and Axis Bank to support the execution of the two solar plants.

The projects feature N-type TOPCon bifacial solar modules paired with high-efficiency inverters, along with dry-cleaning technologies and optimised balance-of-system designs to enhance energy output over the project lifecycle. Power evacuation is facilitated through 220 kV substations.

Once fully operational, the solar facilities are expected to generate close to 1,000 million units of electricity annually. Construction activities involved the use of around 12,400 tonnes of steel, installation of approximately 2,600 kilometres of cabling, and deployment of nearly one million solar modules.

Mahindra Susten currently has 2.1 GW of executed projects and an additional 3.5 GW under development. Beyond solar, the company is expanding into hybrid renewable solutions, energy storage, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Prior to its transition toward an IPP-led and asset-light approach, Mahindra Susten had delivered 4.8 GW of renewable energy projects globally, reinforcing its position as a major player in the clean energy sector.
