KIS Group has welcomed a strategic investment from Mitsubishi Corporation, marking the Japanese conglomerate’s first foray into the global biogas industry. The investment involves the acquisition of a minority stake in KIS Group’s Indonesia operations, setting the stage for an accelerated push into renewable gas and biofuel projects worldwide.

With a target investment of USD 1 billion by 2030, KIS Group plans to strengthen its presence across Southeast Asia, India, and Europe, while preparing to enter North and South American markets over the next five years.

The collaboration brings together KIS Group’s technical and project execution expertise with Mitsubishi’s global network spanning 90+ countries. Together, the partners aim to co-develop and commercialize advanced biogas, BioCNG, and BioLNG solutions, focusing on operational excellence, scalability, and strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

To date, KIS Group has delivered multiple renewable gas projects across 11 countries, securing long-term biomethane supply contracts with Unilever and Shell, while also working with industry leaders such as Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Godrej, Sinarmas, and Banas Dairy.

KR Raghunath, Founder and CEO of KIS Group, commented, “This collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation is a transformative milestone for KIS. Mitsubishi’s decision to enter the biogas and biofuel sector through us underscores confidence in our technology and execution capabilities. By leveraging their international reach and industry know-how, we are poised for rapid growth and to deliver clean, low-carbon energy solutions globally.”

Founded in 2006, KIS Group operates across India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the USA, UAE, Brazil, Colombia, Qatar, and Spain. The company specializes in end-to-end renewable energy solutions for sectors including palm oil, sugar, dairy, paper, distilleries, and agro-processing. With Mitsubishi’s backing, KIS is positioned to play a major role in the global decarbonization journey through the large-scale deployment of renewable gas and biofuel projects.
