MNRE Updates ALMM List, Expands Solar Module Manufacturing Capacity
Feb 20, 2025
Additionally, FS India Solar Ventures, ReNew Photovoltaics, Blue Bird Solar, and Australian Premium Solar (India) have been included in the provisional ALMM list with a combined applied capacity of 7,454 MW. Manufacturers obtaining Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification receive provisional ALMM enlistment within seven days, followed by a two-month window for factory inspection and final approval. If a company fails this inspection within the given timeframe, its provisional enlistment is considered final.
The ALMM mandate has played a crucial role in boosting domestic solar module manufacturing, particularly for government-backed projects that require ALMM-listed modules. Furthermore, starting June 1, 2026, solar cells will also be included under ALMM, ensuring a broader quality and compliance framework. The MNRE introduced the ALMM List-II for solar cells in December 2023, further strengthening regulations in the sector.
