NLC India Commissions Second Phase of 300 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan, Expands Green Energy Footprint

Nov 05, 2025

NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL), a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Government of India, has successfully commissioned the second phase of its 300 MW Barsingsar Solar Power Project in Bikaner district, Rajasthan, adding 106 MW to its renewable energy portfolio. With this milestone, the company’s total operational solar capacity at Barsingsar has now reached 158.83 MW.

The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd. (RRECL) has issued the commissioning certificate for the new phase. The project’s first phase of 52.83 MW began operations on August 26, 2025. With this addition, NLCIL’s total installed renewable energy capacity now stands at 1,588.83 MW, strengthening its position as a key player in India’s renewable power sector.

Commenting on the achievement, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, said, “The commissioning of the second phase marks another important step in our journey toward building a sustainable and diversified energy portfolio. We remain committed to achieving our target of 10 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, supported by ongoing solar and wind projects across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Assam, and Tamil Nadu.”

In FY25, NLCIL generated over 2 billion units (BU) of green electricity. The completion of the Barsingsar project is expected to further boost clean energy output and contribute significantly to India’s transition toward a low-carbon, sustainable energy future.
