NPCL Enters Tripartite Pact to Replace Diesel Generators with Battery Storage Systems
Feb 26, 2026
Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has signed a three-party Memorandum of Understanding with GoodEnough Energy and Indoplast to transition from diesel generator (DG) sets to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The initiative is part of NPCL’s broader clean energy and decarbonisation roadmap. Under the pilot project, BESS solutions will be deployed to provide dependable backup power while enabling intelligent charging and discharging strategies to optimise energy costs.
According to the company, the shift from diesel-based generation to battery storage is expected to lower emissions, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and facilitate greater integration of renewable energy into the grid. The move is also aimed at enhancing grid flexibility and delivering more sustainable, customer-focused power solutions.
Through this collaboration, the partners seek to demonstrate how energy storage can play a central role in strengthening reliability while supporting India’s ongoing transition toward cleaner power infrastructure.
