NTPC Commissions Over 321 MW of New Solar Projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan

Dec 17, 2025

NTPC has brought additional solar power capacity online in Rajasthan and Gujarat, marking the commercial operation of 321.66 MW across two major projects. The newly commissioned capacity includes 78 MW from the Nokh Solar PV project in Rajasthan and 243.66 MW from the Khavda-I Solar PV project in Gujarat. Following these additions, the NTPC Group’s total installed capacity now stands at 85,503 MW.

The state-owned power producer confirmed that 78 MW of capacity at Plot-1 of its 735 MW Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan has achieved commercial operation from midnight on December 17, 2025. This capacity forms part of the 245 MW segment under the project. NTPC had earlier fully commissioned the 245 MW capacity at Plot-3 of the Nokh project in June 2025.

In a separate announcement, NTPC Renewable Energy, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC, declared the commercial operation of 243.66 MW at its Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat. The capacity represents the seventh phase of the 1,255 MW project being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III. The project is implemented through NTPC Green Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC.

With the latest commissioning, NTPC’s standalone operational capacity has increased to 60,783 MW, while the group’s total commercial capacity has reached 85,503 MW. NTPC Green Energy’s operational renewable energy capacity has now grown to 7,889.335 MW.

Earlier in July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved enhanced investment powers for NTPC, extending the existing delegation limits applicable to Maharatna CPSEs. This approval allows NTPC Green Energy to invest up to INR 20,000 crore—up from the earlier limit of INR 7,500 crore—in its subsidiaries and joint ventures, including NTPC Renewable Energy Limited. The expanded investment mandate supports NTPC’s long-term goal of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
