NTPC Green Energy Boosts Khavda-II Solar Project with 165 MW Addition, Total Capacity Reaches 810 MW

Mar 20, 2026

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), via its wholly owned arm NTPC Renewable Energy, has brought an additional 165 MW online at its 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat. With this latest commissioning, the project’s operational capacity has risen to 810 MW, while the group’s overall installed capacity has grown to 9,727.68 MW.

The project has been progressing in phases. Earlier this month, 270 MW was made operational as part of the third phase. Prior to that, 165 MW was commissioned in February 2026, and 210 MW in January 2026 as the first phase.

Alongside developments at Khavda-II, NTPC Green Energy continues to expand its renewable portfolio across India. Recently, its group company Ayana Renewable Power completed commissioning of a 250 MW solar project in Andhra Pradesh with the addition of the final 91.6 MW capacity.

In Gujarat, NGEL also operationalised 50 MW under Phase-II of its 200 MW Dayapar Wind Energy Project. Additionally, earlier phases of the Khavda-II project and other renewable assets have been steadily progressing.

The company has also strengthened its solar footprint in Rajasthan, where it added 125 MW to the Bhadla Solar PV Project, taking its total operational capacity to 425 MW. Meanwhile, 130.47 MW was commissioned at the Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat in January 2026.

Looking ahead, NTPC aims to significantly scale up its clean energy portfolio, targeting 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. This is expected to contribute nearly 45% of its total power generation capacity, reinforcing its transition towards sustainable energy.
