Jan 29, 2026
NTPC Green Energy, NLC India, and Adani Green Energy have collectively commissioned 321.6 MW of solar power capacity across Gujarat and Rajasthan, strengthening India’s expanding utility-scale solar portfolio.
NTPC Green Energy
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has commissioned 130.47 MW of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat under Phase-II, Tranche-III of the CPSU programme. With this addition, NGEL’s total commercially operational capacity has reached 8,478.25 MW.
The company had earlier commissioned 243.66 MW from the same Khavda project last year. More recently, NGEL also brought 300 MW of capacity online at the 500 MW Bhadla solar project in Phalodi, Rajasthan.
NLC India
NLC India has completed the commissioning of its 300 MW Barsingar solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, following the operationalisation of the final 141.17 MW phase. With the project now fully online, the company’s total renewable energy capacity stands at 1,766 MW.
Previously, NLC India had commissioned 106 MW under the second phase of the Barsingar project.
Adani Green Energy
Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A, a wholly owned step-down subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), has operationalised a 50 MW solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat. Following this commissioning, AGEL’s total operational renewable energy capacity has increased to 17,287.2 MW.
Last year, AGEL commissioned 307.4 MW of renewable capacity at Khavda through its step-down subsidiaries and additionally operationalised 87.5 MW of solar capacity as part of its 30 GW renewable energy project.
India’s Solar Capacity Snapshot
As of September 2025, solar power accounted for 25.1% of India’s total installed power capacity and 51% of the country’s total renewable energy capacity. Solar installations grew 7.5% quarter-on-quarter and 37.5% year-on-year during the period.
India’s overall renewable energy capacity—including large hydroelectric projects—stood at 245.1 GW, representing 49.1% of the nation’s cumulative installed power capacity, according to data from the Central Electricity Authority, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and Mercom India’s Solar Project Tracker.
