Odisha Gives Nod to NTPC-SAIL’s INR 710 Crore Floating Solar Project in Sundargarh

Odisha has intensified its renewable energy efforts by approving a Rs710.27 crore floating solar power project in Sundargarh, cleared during the 142nd meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority.

To be developed by NTPC-SAIL Power Company Ltd., the project is among the most significant green energy proposals sanctioned by the state this year. Officials noted that the installation will play a major role in boosting Odisha’s solar generation capacity and strengthening its long-term clean energy infrastructure.

While a total of 20 industrial projects across various sectors received approval, the floating solar project emerged as the flagship renewable initiative, highlighting the state’s strategy to attract clean-tech investments and diversify its energy mix.

The government further stated that the project will create employment opportunities, enhance local infrastructure, and accelerate Odisha’s shift toward low-carbon growth.
