ONGC–NTPC Green JV Commissions 150 MW Solar Capacity in Rajasthan
Apr 17, 2026
The partial commissioning boosts the group’s total installed capacity beyond 10.27 GW, strengthening its renewable energy portfolio.
NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has announced that 150 MW capacity from a 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan has been successfully commissioned by Project Sixteen Renewable Power, a step-down subsidiary of its joint venture ONGC NTPC Green.
Following this development, the NGEL Group’s total installed capacity has risen to 10,276.40 MW, according to a regulatory filing. The commissioning marks another step forward in the group’s ongoing expansion of its renewable energy footprint.
The company had recently crossed the 10 GW operational renewable energy milestone, reporting a total installed capacity of 10,076 MW last month. This included a substantial addition of 4,175 MW during FY 2025–26, with 2,065 MW commissioned in the final quarter alone.
Looking ahead, the broader NTPC Group has outlined plans to scale its renewable energy capacity to 60 GW by 2032. This would account for nearly 45% of its overall power generation mix, reflecting a strong long-term focus on clean energy transition.
