Orient Green Power Expands into Solar with 7 MW Group Captive Project in Tamil Nadu
Dec 08, 2025
Wind energy developer Orient Green Power Company Ltd. (OGPCL) has announced its entry into the solar sector with the commissioning of a 7 MW AC solar project in Tamil Nadu through its subsidiary, Delta Renewable Energy. This project complements the company’s existing wind power portfolio and marks a strategic step in diversifying its renewable energy operations.
According to the company, the 7 MW AC project received its service connection on December 5, 2025, and was officially commissioned the following day, December 6, 2025. OGPCL stated that this milestone underscores its commitment to expanding and strengthening its clean-energy portfolio.
The project will operate under the Group Captive Model, supplying power to the captive shareholders of Delta Renewable Energy. This solar addition is expected to enhance the company’s renewable energy mix, provide long-term revenue stability, and position OGPCL competitively in India’s evolving clean-energy market.
To support its solar expansion, OGPCL raised funds through a Rights Issue aimed at implementing a 25 MW AC solar power project. The company is also in the process of finalising land parcels for an additional 18 MW AC capacity, which will further increase its solar footprint in Tamil Nadu.
